This batik from the late 19th to early 20th century is in excellent condition.

Tiga negeri, meaning three lands, refers to the regions that contributed dye for this type of batik: red from Lasem, blue from Pekalongan on Java’s north coast, and brown soga from Surakarta, Central Java.

The center panel, or badan, features flowers and birds on a background of small circles called gringsing, while the sida muki diamond pattern contains elements inspired by nature along with ships. The traditional double border featuring the small siret strip at the edge and floral vine is said to protect the wearer.

Hand drawn batik, single panel sewn by hand into a tube. European cotton cloth. Made with natural dyes in Kudus, Pekalongan and Surakarta, Java in late 19th early 20th century. Size 105 x 100 cm / 41.5 x 39.5 in
