The quiet elegance of these batik cushions and the winged and filigree imagery speak of old ties to Chinese cultures that flourished in Java.
Tuban is on the northern coast of Java where trade with India, Arabia and China was carried on for centuries. In Tuban weavers still collect their own cotton and spin it into thread which they weave into cloth and batik designs using a wax resist technique. The indigo dyeing was done at the Threads of Life Dye Studio on Bali using all natural processes and no chemicals.
These handmade handspun natural dyed cushions would be exquisite on a couch, chair or bed. Each cushion cover comes with an inner lining with zipper so all that is required is for you to add the Dacron and enjoy your handmade pillow.
