Patterns used in traditional textiles are very specific in their meaning and use. The motif on this cushion is called called totandung and is said to be the oldest known motif by the To Mangki weavers. It is said to mean “to celebrate our success and to be generous.

Each textile is tied, dyed and woven by a single woman from the area known as Karataun in Sulawesi. The solid rust color backing is made from handspun cotton and woven on a backstrap loom in Java and dyed with Ceriops tagal in the Threads of Life Dye Studio.

These cushions would be exquisite on a couch, chair or bed. Each cushion cover comes with an inner lining with zipper so all that is required is for you to add the Dacron and enjoy your handmade pillow.
