A textile like this is called a beit ana and traditionally is used as a shoulder cloth by women for ceremonies and special occasions. The textiles of Miomafo area in West Timor are known for their indigo work with intricate ikat.

The motif on this textile called Noa no’o is a coconut leaf. The coconut tree is very important to the people of Timor as it is used not only for food but as building material

This indigo dyed ikat textile works well as a table runner or can be worn as a scarf. A textile such as this would take up to 3 months to make.
