This man's hip cloth called Tai muti is made by weavers from Amarasi near Kupang in West Timor. Textiles from these areas are similar in design, sharing many of the same motifs. The man's hip cloth generally has a white centerfield which is characteristic of people who are ethnically Atoni: the predominant ethnic group of western Timor.

The ikat motif on this textile is called makaif or large hooked pattern represents interconnectedness between clans and family groups.

This textile is lovely on as a wall hanging or used as throw on the bed or over a couch.
