In Bali this textile is known as a cerik langah, which means a cloth with spacing or openings. Woven on a backstrap loom, the pattern is achieved with a slit tapestry technique. Traditionally this type of open weave textile is worn as a breast wrap and used in ritual dance across the island. It is said the spaces enable the dancer to shift between dimensions.

The threads were dyed by the Threads of Life Natural Dye Studio, using only sustainably harvested materials to achieve the colors. The mustard is from Artocarpus heterophyllus wood, the brown from Ceriops tagal, and the blue from Strobilantes cusia.

Information about the makers will be supplied with each cloth.
