The ikat patterning on this exquisite mud dyed cloth is called kai naek representing kindship and interconectedness. It relates to interconnectedness: people to people, people to land, people to animal and plant life and people to the ancestor / Divine. The fringing on this textile are particularly fine and the clear white is a sign of a good dyer who has carefully secured her tied threads during the dye process where there are repeated applications of mud and tannins on the cloth. This would be lovely worn as a scarf or used as a decorative accent in your home. Threads of Life works to sustain all traditional weaving and natural dye techniques made by generations gone before while maintaining healthy ecosystems.

Information about the makers will be supplied with each cloth.
