Beit Ana is a narrow single panel textile used as a shoulder cloth by women for ceremonies and special occasions. The textiles of Miomafo area in West Timor are known for their indigo work with intricate ikat.
Motifs used include makaif, atoni, beso and noa no’o. The motif beso or frogs stacked one on the other. Frogs are a symbol of the ancestor. When Timorese pray for rain, the frog appears, a sign that the ancestor has answered their prayers.
