This stunning cushion cover is made from handwoven textiles from the village of Kaliuda which is renowned for its red dye. The people of Kaliuda believe that the knowlegde for making this bright red is one of the gifts of their ancestors. Kaliuda textiles are easily identified by the strong red, black and white colors. The black is an overdye of red and indigo.
The motif of horse, men on horses and cattle are laid out in rows at the head and foot of the textile with the centerfield having a separate motif. The solid coloured backing is made by the weavers from Hamba Parengu Sumba.
These handmade natural dyed cushions would be exquisite on a couch, chair or bed. Each cushion cover comes with an inner lining with zipper so all that is required is for you to add the Dacron and enjoy your handmade pillow.
