Cilai Gantung is the traditional textile worn by the Dayak Desa men of West Kalimantan for ceremonies. The mordanting process to achieve the red dye is complex as it requires many different plants from the forest and must be performed with a ritual. The Dayak textiles have always been highly regarded for their unique designs, many of which were originally woven from dreams. The motif Buli Tuntung is a symbol of well-being and brings us happiness. In the past parents would use a Buli Tuntung to stop a child from crying. Buli Tuntung also protects a child from disturbing forces.
