The bold circles arranged on this batik art are given depth in the use of the strong dark indigo and rich chocolate brown colours by master dyers of Solo, Java. The artist who made this design called it Lilo which refers to coming to terms with or surrendering to life and all of the difficulties and hardships that we are presented with. Lilo is what is written in Javanese script on the bottom of the textile. Such a special piece deserves special details and hence the edges are all rolled and handsewn.
This piece can be hung, worn or used to set a table on. It can be washed by hand with a gentle soap and hung to dry. Textiles are meant to be lived with and be enjoyed.
Batik hand drawn, single panel, heavy weight cotton, natural and synthetic dyes. Made by batik artists in Java, 2022. Size 226 x 101 cm / 89 x 40 in
