This hand carved Sae is a protective symbol used in doorways and shrines in Bali. The Chinese Lion called Barong Sae is danced for temple ceremonies to neutralize or balance the forces around us for auspicious events.

Cempaka wood (Michelia Champaca) is the most sought after wood for temple shines. The heart wood of this tree has been cured for many years before being carved by master carver I Made Artawan who trace their origins to the original vast kingdom of Gelgel.
