The woman’s sarong that is used to make these cushions is known as Ei Ledo which is tied, dyed and woven by a single woman from Savu. The cloth colours are very colorfast as they have been properly dyed with indigo and Morinda citrifolia. The back panel is made from handspun cotton woven on a backstrap loom and dyed with indigo dyes.
An Ei Ledo textile is one of the traditional textiles belonging to Hubi Iki one of the two lineages of the women on Sabu. The other being Hubi Ae. The struction of the motif defines which group it belongs to along with the use of the beautiful deep blue-black background colour.
These cushions would be exquisite on a couch, chair or bed. Each cushion cover comes with an inner lining with zipper so all that is required is for you to add the Dacron and enjoy your handmade pillow.
