This hand drawn batik is called meteor and is wonderful in its creation in deep indigo and browns. Lou Zeldis took traditional batik and turned it on its head while still using traditional batik artisans and the hand drawn canting technique from Central Java. The work of Threads of Life is to revive the natural dye process that thrived in Java for centuries as we have with natural dyed ikat in the eastern islands of Indonesia.
A batik like this is wonderful to use to set a table with or wrap yourself with for a cool evening or wear it out to dinner.
