Who would not want to slip into this reversible jacket made from handspun cotton and woven on Timor? The red dye is typical of this community in Amanuban along with the supplementary patterning called sotis. The inner lining which presents another look when worn on the outside is also made from handspun cotton. The brown supplementary cotton is from the heirloom brown cotton which is rare and we are delighted when we see it used in our Javanese textiles. This is certainly a conversation piece and we hope you can look at our stories on our website to read more about the work we do in Timor and Java to enhance this conversation. Cotton that is used for handspinning is grown in small amounts around households and used for small production.
