This three-part woman's tubular sarong is made using natural dyed cotton threads and is worn for ceremonies and special occasions. The textiles of Miomafo area in west Timor are renown for their indigo work with intricate ikat.

Motifs used include ma'kaif hook pattern, atoni ancestor, beso frog and noa no'o coconut leaf and paos kenat ornate leather belt worn by the Meo warriors. The motif on this textile kai mnutu refers to a small hook pattern representing interconnectedness.

This textile is already prepared with museum quality backing so that it can be hung and admired on a wall.

Warp ikat, three panels stitched together and sewn as a tube, commercial cotton, natural dyes. Ikat tied, dyed and woven in Miomafo,Timor, 2021. Size 106 x 64 cm / 41.5 x 25 in
