Lou’s playfulness and skilled eye captured design found in shadows, shapes found throughout the world and particularly in Indonesia. This hand drawn batik on a thick cotton is called fire and is made in using all indigo and it dyed at the Threads of Life Dye Studio.
Lou Zeldis took traditional batik and turned it on its head while still using traditional batik artisans and the hand drawn canting technique from Central Java. This unique batik can be washed by hand with a gentle soap and hung to dry. Textiles are meant to be lived with and be enjoyed.
