At over two and half meters, this batik is exceptionally long and extremely well crafted.

Tiga negeri, meaning three lands, refers to the regions that contributed dye for this type of batik: red from Lasem, blue from Pekalongan on Java’s north coast, and brown soga from Central Java.

A resplendent collection of birds dance across the cloth; peacocks in full display, exquisite birds of paradise, herons and swallows. A traditional protective double border with small lines and vines contains the entire cloth.

Signed by the creator, Nj Sie Dijen Soen, this batik is in very good condition with some small holes in the folds.

Hand drawn batik, single panel on European cotton cloth. Made in the studio of NJ Sie Djien Soen in Lasem, Java with natural and synthetic dyes. c.1920. Size 254 x 106 cm / 100 x 41.5 in
