This equisite ikat textile is called Hinggi are designed as two parts that are joined in the center with an almost invisible seam. They are worn in identical pairs during a man's lifetime, folded over the shoulder and wrapped about the hips. This textile is come from the village of Kaliuda in East Sumba is renowned for its striking crimson dye, and the villagers believe the knowledge to produce it is a gift from their ancestors. Kaliuda textiles are immediately identifiable by their bold red, black, and white colors; the black being an overdye of red and indigo.

The flying horse called njara hawurung on this textile are said to be the prized horse owned by one of the past kings of Kaliuda. Manu or chicken is an important animal in Sumba as it is used for ceremonies as well as it is considered a reminder to the community to always wake up early to do the chores.
