This textile undergoes some of the most complex dye work to achieve the colors on this cloth. It requires more than 4 month to complete tying the tiny ikat patterning on the threads, and dyeing with indigo then with the bark of the roots of Morinda citrifolia and then another overdue process to give the rich deep red-black background. Threads of Life works to sustain all traditional weaving and natural dye techniques made by generations gone before while maintaining healthy eco-systems.

The motif on this textile is called semba meaning walking together which means If we follow the way of the ancestor we will be taken care of. A Semba textile is worn by the traditional land custodian mosalaki. This unique textile is lovely as a wall hanging or used as a table runner.
