This beautifully crafted cloth could easily be a Tiga Negri given its Lasem red and Pekalongan blue with brown soga Central Java colors. However I leave that up to experts who know much more than us. The centre panel contains stalks of lilys with birds feeding on them and flying on a background of white truntung flower motif. Double protective borders with siret small lines and gigi wulang cricket teeth with the band of flower vines above. Very good condition with two small holes on the back of the cloth and a small patch on the front panel.
Hand drawn batik on a single panel of cotton sewn into a tube. Natural and synthetic dyes from Lasem, Java c. 1930-1950. Size 105 x 100 cm / 41.5 x 39.5 in
