The Indigo ikat panel on this pillow was made by the weavers of the area of Insana in West Timor who are known for their indigo work and intricate ikat. The back panel is a hearty handspun cotton woven on a backstop loom and dyed to a deep rust using sustainably harvested Ceriops tagal bark from Papua.
The motif on this cushion is called teke or gecko. The gecko along with the frog and crocodile are all representations of the ancestor. It is said if you hear a gecko call out it is acknowledging that what is being spoken is correct or true according to the ancestor.
