The motif on this cushion is called pika buuf refers to the base of the ceramic plate that was traded from China to these islands as part of the trade currency. These plates are stored as heirlooms in traditional houses throughout the archipelago.
This textile used to make this pillow was made by the weavers of Miomafo, Timor using a supplementary warp patterning technique. The solid coloured back panel of this cushion is made from linen and dyed with indigo using natural processes at the Threads of Life Dye Studio on Bali.
These cushions would be exquisite on a couch, chair or bed. Each cushion cover comes with an inner lining with zipper so all that is required is for you to add the Dacron and enjoy your handmade pillow.
