Lou’s playfulness and skilled eye captured design found in shadows, shapes found throughout the world and particularly in Indonesia. Woven Bamboo is the name of this cloth which can be hung in a doorway or on a wall. The name is written in Javanese script at the bottom of the cloth.
Lou Zeldis took traditional batik and turned it on its head while still using traditional batik artisans and the hand drawn canting technique from Central Java. The work of Threads of Life is to revive the natural dye process that thrived in Java for centuries as we have with natural dyed ikat in the eastern islands of Indonesia.
Enjoy living with this batik in your home to brighten your life.
