This unique textile was made by a mother and daughter. The mother created the mud dye and tannin ikat work, while her daughter created the warp-wrap section with a time consuming technique called buna. The motif, ma’kai bia suna ana, represents interconnectedness between the ancestors, the land, and the human world.
