This textile undergoes some of the most complex dye work to achieve the colors on this cloth. It requires more than 4 months to complete tying the tiny ikat patterning on the threads, and dyeing with indigo then with the bark of the roots of Morinda citrifolia and then another overdue process to give the rich deep red -black background. The motif on this textile is called sinde is the local name for the indian cotton and silk patola textiles. Among the local people of Ndona they also refer to Sinde as being the skin of a python.

This unique textile is lovely on as a wall hanging or used as a table runners.
