This indigo dyed ikat textile would be beautiful as a table runner or can be worn as a scarf. The textiles of Miomafo area in West Timor are known for their indigo work with intricate ikat. A textile of this size is called a beit ana and traditionally is used as a shoulder cloth by women for ceremonies and special occasions.

The motif on this textile is called makai naek means large hook pattern. This pattern refers to the importance of interconnectedness among community, nature and the ancestors. A textile such as this would take up to 3 months to make. Threads of Life works to sustain all traditional weaving and natural dye techniques made by generations gone before while maintaining healthy ecosystems.
