Mau ana refers to the small single panel textile and is traditionally worn as a shoulder cloth worn by women for traditional ceremonies. Textiles in this region are made using techniques of ikat, floating warp patterning called sotis or creating patterns using the time consuming warp wrap patterning called buna.

The motif on this textile is called teme is an eagle motif and kai mnutu means a small hook pattern and refers to interconnectedness between clans and family groups.
