This cushion cover is made entirely from a single traditional cloth called rangrang. The word rangrang in Balinese translates as space or hole in Balinese. Traditionally these rangrang textiles would be used for ritual dance. The holes are the space that the dancer is able to connect with the deities and the closed section insures that she stays in her body in this world. A slit tapestry weave technique is used to create this open pattern. The patterns are all individually designed by the weaver.
These backing is made with handspun cotton with mud dyes and tannins. Each cushion has an inner lining so all you need to do is fill it with Dacron and you are ready to enjoy this beautiful handmade pillow.
Front panel is slit tapestry with natural dyes. Back panel made from handspun cotton dyed with tannins and mud dye. Made in Bali, 2020. Size: 57 x 29 cm / 22.5 x 11.5 in
