Patterns used in traditional textiles are very specific in their meaning and use. The sekomandi textile used to make these cushion covers is called tosso balekoan. Tosso balekoan which represents a niddy-noddy that is used for making skeins of yarn after being spun from cotton.

Each textile is tied, dyed and woven by a single woman from the area known as Karataun in Sulawesi. The solid color backing is made from handspun cotton and woven on a backstrap loom in Java and dyed dyed with mud dyes.

These cushions would be exquisite on a couch, chair or bed. Each cushion cover comes with an inner lining with zipper so all that is required is for you to add the Dacron and enjoy your handmade pillow.
