This beautiful earth-red shoulder cloth is a testament to the revival of traditional weaving in southern Lembata near Lamalera. This shoulder scarf represents Threads of Life’s early efforts to revive traditionally produced textiles where natural dye techniques had all but vanished.

The beautiful motif on this textile is called samoina which refers to the first ancestor who created motifs on the textiles from this ethnic group.

Information about the makers will be supplied with each cloth.
Warp ikat, single panel, twisted fringe, commercial cotton, natural dyes. Ikat tied, dyed, and woven in Wulandoni, Lembata, 2018. Size 180 x 18 cm / 71 x 7 in
