There are at least six important textiles used by the ethnic group of To Mangki people of on the western mountain range of Toraja who refer to themselves as Toraja Karataun.

This extraordinary four and half meter pori londong is a single panel with a mix of the important ikat motifs on it. Pori means ikat and londong means long cloth. It would be used for ceremonies such as a funeral procession where the cloth would be carried above the heads of family members, ceremonially connecting them to the deceased.

The central motif on this textile include; Ulu karua refers to the eight traditional leaders who have specific roles and responsibilities for the well being of their community. According to legend, an ancestor was meditating in a cave when he saw an old tattered cloth containing these motifs. He brought this cloth back to his community and the motifs on the cloth were woven once again. Motifs include; ulu karua and refers to the eight traditional leaders who have specific roles and responsibilities for the well being of their community. According to legend, an ancestor was given these motifs on an old cloth while meditating in a cave which he then brought back to the community to ask the weavers to weave. Tobo alang, Tobo means carving and alang refers to the traditional rice barn. This motif would be found on the intricately carved rice barns as well as on textiles. This would be a reference to importance of storing food after a harvest and is a reminder "to gather the fruits of your labor". A secondary motif tumba’ tumba’ refers to a spear head.

This is a rare textile given its very detailed work and exquisite color nice for wall hanging or used as throw.
