This stunning cushion covers is made from handwoven textiles from the village of Kaliuda which renknown for it's red dye. the people of kaliuda believe that the knowlegde for making this bright red is one of the gifts of their ancestors. Kaliuda textiles are easly identified by the strong red, black and white colors.
The back panel is a hearty handspun cotton woven on a backstop loom from Java.
The motif njara means horse. Horses are royal symbols. Manu or chicken is an important animal in Sumba as it is used for ceremonies as well as it is considered a reminder to the community to always wake up early to do the chores.
These handmade natural dyed cushions would be exquisite on a couch, chair or bed. Each cushion cover comes with an inner lining with zipper so all that is required is for you to add the Dacron and enjoy your handmade pillow.
