Tiga negeri, meaning three lands, refers to the regions that contributed dye for this type of batik: red from Kudus, blue from Pekalongan on Java’s north coast, and brown soga from Central Java.

With its two distinct sections, this type of batik is called pagi sore, with pagi meaning morning, and sore, afternoon.

The lighter pagi section features a background of sekar jagat motifs from Central Java, along with the yin yang kawung and parang patterns. The darker sore section is a seething array of richly colored flowers.

The intricate borders containing gigi walang, or cricket teeth, and vines are considered protective for the wearer. In very good condition, this cloth has received four tidy repairs using an embroidery technique to blend with the colors, and has two small holes.
