This exquisite ikat textile shoulder scarf called Limut would be worn by women as part of traditional dress in West Timor. The motif on this textile is called nian klehen is a coconut leaf. The coconut tree is very important to the people of Helong as it is used not only for food but as building material. This motif appears at the edge of the textile as a boundary.

Warp ikat, single panel, braided fringe, commercial cotton, natural dyes. Ikat tied, dyed and woven in Kupang, Timor, 2018. Size 172 x 19 cm / 67.5 x 7.5 in
