Tai Ninif is one of the side panels of the larger textile called Tai Muti. It is made by weavers from Amarasi in the southern part of West Timor. The three major villages within the region of Amarasi are ; Oekabiti, Buraen and Baun. Textiles from these areas are similar in design, sharing many of the same motifs.
The man's hip cloth has a white centerfield which is characteristic of people who are ethnically Atoni. The Atoni are the predominant ethnic group of western Timor. The motif Kor Kase refers to a bird that is not indigenous but from "the outside". Kase means something foreign.
Information about the makers will be supplied with each cloth.
