The ikat patterning on this exquisite indigo dyed cloth is called teke or gecko along with the frog and crocodile are all representations of the ancestor. The fringing on this textile are particularly fine and the clear white is a sign of a good dyer who has carefully secured her tied threads during the dye process where there are repeated applications of indigo on the cloth. This would be lovely worn as a scarf or used as a decorative accent in your home. Threads of Life works to sustain all traditional weaving and natural dye techniques made by generations gone before while maintaining healthy ecosystems.
Information about the makers will be supplied with each cloth.
