This hand drawn batik we call Garden Steps as it brings to mind steps embeded with stones that allow us to walk gently through our land and garden.
The designs are made by a skilled batik artists drawing freehand on cloth using wax flowing from the top of small pen. Blue dye is then applied to the unwaxed areas and followed by the appliecation of brown rust soga dyes which are comprised from three different plants and barks. The overdye of brown on the blue creates a dark backdrop that brings the drawing to life.
This will be a beautiful table cloth or wall hanging or wear it out one night and watch the attention it will draw!
