The textiles of Miomafo district in Timor are renowned for their rich indigo and intricate ikat. This classic natural dyed blanket, which is known locally as beti naek and used as a man’s hip wrap, is a wonderful example. Its prominent hooked motif, Ma’kai bia suna naek, refers to a buffalo horn, and represents our interconnection with society, nature, and the divine.
This exquisite textile would look striking as a wall hanging or draped over a chair.
Information about the makers will be supplied with each cloth.
