The depth of the indigo that is reached in this textile is the mark of a master indigo dyer. The beautiful sharp motifs of cockatoos looking over their shoulders remind us that when we look around we can trust that our ancestors are there to continue to guide us on our path. The clear white outline of the cockatoos shows that the weaver was also a master tyer as she has bound her threads so tight with a palm fiber tie that it has resisted the indigo colour through repeated dye applications.
The star constellation in the centre of the cloth adds to the dimension of design in the cloth making it a striking table accent or shawl.
